"Empire" season 2 will introduce a slew of new character and just recently, there are reports that Mariah Carey will appear in at least one episode of the hit FOX series.

Series creator Lee Daniels confirmed the news while attending Carey's Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony. At that time, the singer was standing beside Daniels but she failed to react, according to Franchise Herald.

Daniels did not reveal the role that Carey would play on the show but the series creator previously confirmed that Chris Rock, Alicia Keys, Oprah Winfrey and several other celebrities would be part of the "Empire's" sophomore season, according to ET Online.

Meanwhile, FOX just released a teaser for the premiere episode of "Empire" season 2 and it featured Anika (Grace Gealey) getting her revenge alongside Andre's (Trai Byers) in trying to take over the company. Lucious (Terrence Howard) was also featured plotting something with his son Jamal (Jussie Smollett) in their attempt to deal with Andre's health problems.

Additionally, Cookie (Taraji P. Henson) will also plot to get her company back, but her biggest ally may no longer be there to help her.

According to the official synopsis for the season, the second season of "Empire" will be unlike the first season where the entire Lyon family tried to unite to help their father decide on who will run the company.

In the upcoming season, the entire Lyon family will fall apart because they will be focusing more on their personal gains rather than their family's music company.

"Empire" season 2 will premiere on FOX on Sept. 23.
