Lamborghini showed for the first time how powerful the Aventador LP 750-A Superveloce is when it shed 110 pounds but added 50 horsepower.

The result is that with 750 HP, the Superveloce shows it is worthy of that name because it could blast from zero to 62 miles per hour in 2.9 seconds, according to Lamborghini CEO Stephan Winkelmann. The top speed for the vehicle, showed on Saturday at the Quail Motorsports Gathering in Monterey, California, is 217 mph, reports USA Today.

As the purest and most sports-oriented and fastest series of the Lamborghini line, the Superveloce's Roadster version "represents our commitment to satisfying our passionate clients with immensely emotional driving dynamics combined with an extraordinary open air experience," Winkelmann said in a statement.

Superveloce is powered by a 12-cylinder, 6.5-liter engine and coupled with a seven-speed transmission. The model costs $530,075.

According to Moto Authority, only 500 Aventador SV Roadsters will be built for global sales. The coup had 600 built which was sold out within weeks when it debuted in March at the Geneva Motor Show, priced at $493,069.

The Superveloce features a removable roof made of two pieces that snaps into place. The roof is made from carbon fiber and weighs only 13 pounds.

When Motor Authority tested the Superveloce, it finished the Nurburgring lap under seven minutes. Despite Aventador's reputation for being a brute of a supercar, Motor Authority found Superveloce "surprisingly sharp and responsive."

Lamborghini will start deliveries of the Superveloce in early 2016.
