"X-Men: Days of the Future Past" star Ellen Page, 28, was at the Iowa State Fair on Aug. 21, Friday. During the event, the actress confronted Republican Texas senator Ted Cruz, 44, about LGBT rights.

"Well, what we're seeing right now, we're seeing Bible-believing Christians being persecuted for living according to their faith," ABC News quoted Cruz as saying when asked by Page "about the question about LGBT people being fired for being gay-trans."

After accusing Cruz of discriminating against LGBT people, Page asked again, "Well, would you use that argument in segregation?"

The devout Christian, who has said he believes in marriage being between one man and one woman, replied, "Now I'm happy to answer your question, but not to have a back-and-forth debate."

In addition, Page and Cruz's exchange included anti-gay violence in Jamaica and the persecution of gays under ISIS. They also talked about whether or not it is right to force a "gay florist" to cater to two evangelicals' wedding ceremony. The two were both born in Canada.

Page has recently two films namely "Into The Forest" with Evan Rachel Wood and Max Minghella and "Freeheld" with Julianne Moore and Steve Carell. The "X-Men: Days of the Future Past" actress is currently filming the 2016 film "Window Horses" and is set to star in "Tallulah" and "Robodog."

In other news, Page's "X-Men: Days of the Future Past" co-star Hugh Jackman is in talks for Lionsgate's film adaptation of "The Odyssey," which will be helmed by "Hunger Games" director Francis Lawrence, according to Variety
