Speaking to Digital Spy, Woodley shared that she admired how her character Tris had been so selfless. The actress pointed out that she agreed with Roth's standpoint, adding that the ending perfectly embodied the struggles of the people belonging to the factions.

The actress added that the ending "made sense" given Tris' character. Woodley also compared her character to a "semi-Christ" figure, given how selfless and giving she is.

Her onscreen partner James also spoke against changing the ending of "Divergent: Allegiant." Although some fans may have wanted to see Tris and Four have their happily ever after, the actor believed that it would only diminish what Roth wanted to impart to viewers.

As previously reported, there were several protests to change the ending of the movie. Gabie PP Silva recently started an online petition, via Change.org, to have two alternate endings for the film adaptation.

The netizen explained that the last movie may follow the original ending of the book but the producers should also release an alternative ending to be released in the DVD. In the post, Silva shared that he intended to go to Comic-Con to talk to the producers about his idea. No updates, however, has been given at the time of writing.
