Nintendo NX gaming device may no longer feature a disc drive, according to a new patent.

According to the patent, the system will not have an optical disc drive, which is usually used for reading the data in the games, Forbes reported. However, other features like the internal hard disc drive, processor and data network communication are all packed and tailored towards game processing.

Apart from the console hardware, there is also a gamepad controller that mimics the design of a Wii U gamepad. Nintendo NX is supposed to be a new take on gaming platforms, but this new sighting does not give any assurance regarding Nintendo's upcoming console.

Previously, two new titles from the "Dragon Quest" series are reportedly considered to be coming to Nintendo's newest gaming device, GameSpot reported

According to publisher Square Enix, these titles are "Dragon Quest X" and "Dragon Quest XI." Despite this, nothing has been finalized yet, as only the Nintendo 3Ds and PS4 were the platforms up for consideration for "Dragon Quest XI."

Considering that there is no concrete announcement for the release of the Nintendo NX, it is not surprising that the support for games for the device is still limited. As what it goes with patents, not all of these are developed by the company, so whether or not this is the final Nintendo NX design remains to be confirmed by Nintendo.

On a more positive note, reports have also claimed earlier that the Nintendo NX may begin production by October, after an agreement between Foxconn Electronics and Nintendo were made for pilot assembly.
