Nicki Minaj had spent between $30,000 and $40,000 for the weekend wedding of her brother Jelani Maraj. About 200 guests attended the ceremony and reception held at the Coral House on Milburn Lake in Baldwin, New York.
The rapper shared that she cried at her elder brother's wedding. Gulf News reports that she came with seven security guards, make-up artists, a photographer and several friends. She also posted a photo of the wedding with the caption: "I would cross the ocean for you. I would go and bring you the moon. Promise you. For you I will. I love my brother so much man."
The photo, which shows Jelani and Nicki, got almost 450,000 likes and almost 3,500 comments on Instagram. Another photo of Nicki and the bride, Jacqueline Robinson, received almost 595,000 likes and more than 7,600 comments.
TMZ reports that the 32-year-old rapper left an $11,000 gown at Coral House which she apparently did not wear. The New York post reports that Nicki instead wore a plunging red dress so she would not upstage her new sister-in-law.
According to Butch Yamali, owner of the venue, they found the bronze sequined Pucci gown hanging in the bridal suite. While someone has called them inquiring about the dress, Yamali did not hand over the gown because he was suspicious the person was not from the group of Jelani.
Yamali explains, "The gown is so valuable, I only want to give it directly back to Nicki or someone from her family."
