The Chinese company OnePlus is now rolling out the Cyanogen OS 12.1 OTA (based on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop) to the OnePlus One smartphone users.
At present, the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update is making its way to 2% of owners. However, it is expected that the update will make its way to more owners of OnePlus One in a few days, Android Police reported. Hence, if you are looking to download the update, you may have to wait for some time.
The complete update has the build number YOG4PAS1N0 and weighs 645MB. In addition, the update brings patches for the Stagefright security vulnerability on Android. The Chinese company has taken out a patch for Stagefright for its OxygenOS for OnePlus 2 as well as OnePlus One.
The update's notification stated that this Android 5.1.1 update provides important security fixes for a user's device to address vulnerabilities on Android devices. This is a sizable update, therefore, users should allocate 20 minutes for the installation process and make sure that their handset is completely charged prior to proceeding with the install.
A smaller update that weighs 304MB is also there. It is available for owners running Android 5.0 Lollipop. The update will work on a user's OnePlus One smartphone whether they install the complete or smaller version of the update.
There were also reports that the new update has been pulled by OnePlus due to some issues. Just 2% of the OnePlus One units managed to get the update. However, according to latest reports, the update is back.
Users will find out that their Chrome homepage has been changed to Bing. They can get rid of Microsoft's search engine by using Chrome settings, according to Neurogadget.
