Contrary to previous indications that Caitlyn Jenner may not face charges for the February car crash that killed an old woman, investigators recommended on Saturday the filing of manslaughter charges against the transgender reality star.

The probers said it would be a case of negligent driving. However, Caitlyn - who was still Bruce Jenner when the accident happened - may get off with just a light sentence because of the absence of aggravating circumstances, reports Rapid News Network. Nevertheless, the investigators found that Bruce was driving "unsafe for the prevailing road conditions."

Det. Richard Curry of the L.A. County Sheriff's Department explains that Bruce was not drunk or high when the incident happened. The chances of Caitlyn being charged is 50/50, he says.

Lt. Shaun Mathers, also from the Sheriff's Department, said the case will be submitted to the DA next week. According to Bulletin Leader, the 161-page report will be submitted to the district attorney on Wednesday, after which prosecutors would decide if charges would be filed against Caitlyn.

The accident was a four-vehicle crash on Feb. 7 on the Pacific Coast Highway. The stepchildren of the 69-year-old woman, who was driving a Lexus that was part of the four-vehicle accident, filed a lawsuit against Caitlyn.

Experts, however, said that while a misdemeanor charge could result in jail sentence if there is conviction, Caitlyn's clean record could spare her from spending time in prison. But if that happens, there is the possibility that Caitlyn could experience sexual assault since transgender women with male genitals are usually placed in male cells where prison rape often happens. Despite her female appearance, Caitlyn still has a penis, according to reports.
