An update has been rolled out to the GoPro app and cameras, which allows users filmmakers to edit a short clip from a longer video and upload instantly.
Prior to this, GoPro users waste time and data when they were on mobile because they had to upload the entire video. With the update, filmmakers can simply press a few buttons on the camera and there will be an entirely new file to play around with, Irish Examiner has learned.
This makes GoPro even more ideal to filmmakers. Even before this update, there have been excellent full-feature films made with GoPro. Three of the best ones are "Fast & Furious 7," "Captain Phillips" and "Hardcore."
1. James Wan's "Fast & Furious 7"
Best known for its high-speed action scenes, "Fast & Furious 7" used GoPro to capture its daring stunts. Considered as the late Paul Walker's last film in the franchise, the film was released on April 3. At the time, GoPro was threatened by the release of Xiaomi's Yi action camera, according to DIY Photography.
"Fast & Furious 7" starred Vin Diesel, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, Jason Statham, Tyrese Gibson, Ludacris, Lucas Black, Kurt Russell, Luke Evans, Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster, Nathalie Emmanuel, Ronda Rousey, Gal Gadot and Iggy Azalea, among others.
2. Paul Greengrass's "Captain Phillips"
Featuring the real-life story of Captain Richard Phillips and the hijacking of the United States-flagged MC Maersk Alabama by Somali pirates in 2009, "Captain Phillips" starred Tom Hanks in the title role.
Released on Oct. 11, 2003, "Captain Phillips" used a GoPro Hero 3, which fixes forced exposure lock on 0.5 and 1 second Time Lapse intervals, corrects HDMI TV preview from low res to high res and optimizes compatibility with select microSD cards.
3. Ilya Naishuller's "Hardcore"
"Hardcore" is an action sci-fi film about how a newly resurrected cyborg saves his wife, also his creator, from a psychotic tyrant with telekinetic powers. Released in Russia on Feb. 12, it is the first action film almost entirely shot with GoPro.
