Early in August, Samsung held the Unpacked event where the company unveiled the Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 Edge+. Along with two new flagship devices, Samsung also released a teaser for its upcoming round smartwatch dubbed the Gear S2.

According to Tech Radar, Samsung recently released the official specs sheet of the Samsung Gear S2 smartwatch. Many tech analysts agree that the latest move from the South Korean tech giant could mean that the smartwatch will be formally unveiled at the upcoming 2015 IFA event in Berlin.

Two variants of the smartwatch were revealed, the Gear S2 and the Gear S2 Classic. Aside from physical dimensions, not much separates the different variant of the smartwatch.

The Gear S2 measures 42.3mm x 49.8mm x 11.4mm and weighs 47 grams. The Gear S2 Classic measures 39.9mm x 43.6mm x 11.4mm and weights 42 grams. Both the standard S2 and S2 Classic has a 250mAh battery which Samsung claims should be able to last up to three days depending on the usage.

All variants of the S2 will support wireless charging via a wireless charging dock. Samsung promised that it will provide additional information about charging protocols in the near future. The Gear S2 will sport a dark gray case with dark gray band or a silver case with white band.

The smartwatch's round design makes it look like a traditional watch.

According to ZDNet, the smartwatch is powered by a dual-core 1GHz processor backed up by 512MB of RAM and 4GB of storage space. Sensors include an accelerometer, heart rate monitor, barometer, ambient light sensor and a gyroscope.
