Adult website Pornhub is offering one $25,000 college scholarship as part of its Pornhub Cares campaign. The scholarship is open to college students all over the world.
To assuage parents or potential parents who fear the offer comes with "strings attached" tied to the portal's main business, Pornhub says no nudity would be required applicants and the awardee, reports Mashable. The applicant could enroll in any major in college but must have a GPA of 3.2 or higher.
To emphasize the academic qualifications required from applications, the website says applicants must submit a 1,000 to 1,500-word essay that would answer the question "How do you strive to make others happy?" In addition, the applicant must also submit a 2-to-5-minute video that would further elaborate on the good work that the applicant is engaged in and other things he or she wants to share.
Besides the video, criteria that Pornhub would follow in selecting the scholar includes leadership ability based on being active in the student council, mentoring and being a people-magnet because of the applicant's awesome personality. Lastly, how creative the applicant is in making the video and the essay also counts.
The winner of the $25,000 college scholarship would have almost just enough funds if he or she is an out-of-state resident who would study in a public university where the estimated cost of a college education is $22,958, according to CollegeBoard.com. However, the scholar would have to raise around $6,000 if he or she opts for a private college where the estimated cost is $31,231.
However, if the scholar is a state resident of a public college, he or she would have almost $15,000 leftover funds since the estimated cost is only $9,139.
Applicants must be over 18 years only - which means he or she could legally watch the videos on Pornhub during semestral breaks or when bored - and must be presently enrolled at a post-secondary educational institution. Besides the listed requirements, the applicant must also submit a resume and official school transcript. Deadline to submit to the Pornhub website is Oct. 31, 2015.
