"Empire" executive Ilene Chaiken recently explained their decision to give lead star Terrence Howard lesser screentime in season 2.

In an interview with TV Line, Chaiken also weighed in on rumors that the guest stars in season 2 could take away storylines for the original cast members.

Chaiken urged fans to now worry about the multiple castings for season 2 because "Empire" will still center on the Lyon family. This means that Howard's Lucious and Taraji P. Henson's Cookie will still be at the heart of the series.

"Our rule for ourselves, even though all of these fabulous people are being presented to us on these lovely silver platters, is that we're going to tell our stories, and if guest stars fit into our stories, fantastic," Chaiken said.

Meanwhile, the boss also said that a lot of celebrities have expressed their desire to appear on "Empire" season 2. However, they are very picky when it comes to selecting which ones will really be part of the series.

This is because it is important for Chaiken and the rest of the writers and creators to make sure that the guest star they will hire fits "Empire's" storylines.

"Every once in a while, we might spend a bit of time figuring out what we can do with a certain person who really wants to be on the show, but if it doesn't fit, we don't do it," she said.

There are rumors that Howard's character was put in jail to give Lucious less screentime in the upcoming season, according to Page Six

"Empire" season 2 will premiere on FOX this fall.
