Just a few weeks ahead of its premiere, Fox has released a 55-second promo of "Empire" season 2 on Sept. 4, Saturday, in which Lucious Lyon (Terrence Howard) can be seen spending his days in prison.

The promo is titled "Far From Grace" in which the music giant is seen behind the bars where he gets a visit by estranged wife Cookie Lyon (Taraji P. Henson) when Lucious gushes how he still loves and hates her at the same moment.

"I call it torture," quips Cookie in her characteristic style.

The season 2 of the hit series will pick up three months after the shocking arrest and incarceration of the Empire Entertainment head, International Business Times reported.

Lucious seems to be honing his musical skill while in jail as he can be seen jamming with other inmates at one point in the trailer of season 2. He is also heard saying that he wants his whole family to be back together once again.

Elsewhere, Cookie confides in Andre (Trai Byers) and Mimi Whiteman (guest star Marisa Tomei) to declare that although Lucious is a musical genius, he has lost his way.

In order to fulfill her ambitious dreams, Cookie stages a star-studded concert to show her support for Lucious while scheming with Andre, Hakeen, Anika and the business savvy Mimi Whiteman to take over the empire.

Cookie will also dabble and start a new new record label of her own, Cartermatt reported. In the absence of Lucious, Jamal is handling the business matters and started neglecting his music. As he continues to make business moves, Lucious makes history by releasing a hit track from the prison.

"Empire" season 2 is set to premier on Sept. 23 on Fox with episode 1, titled "Far From Grace."
