With the sluggish Labor Day weekend, the micro-budget family drama "War Room" stands out in the box office.

According to ABC News, Rentak estimated that the "War Room" film earned about $12.6 million across the four-day Labor Day weekend. It was said that the faith-based family drama was produced with only the cost of $3.5 million but it grossed $27.9 million up to date that it showed a significantly impressive hold from its weekend opening compared to the Spanish language animated movie with the title "Un Gallo con Muchos Huevos," which, on the other hand, garnered $4.4 million.

In line with this, Daily News reported that "War Room" usurped the new releases "Straight Outta Compton" in the second place and "A Walk In The Woods" in the third place with lackluster of $10.5 million and $9 million, respectively. It was then clearly known that the word of mouth was significantly strong for "War Room" to gather an exit poll of 75 percent of the audience saying they will definitely recommend the movie to other people like their friends and other relatives.

Rentak's senior media analyst, Paul Dergarabedian, said that "It's just a great story of a film that really filled a void in the marketplace, with a message that the audience could really get behind." And it was a notable performance by lead actors Priscilla Shirer (as Elizabeth Jordan) and T. C. Stallings (as Tony Jordan).

Other films that harvested millions of dollars were as follows: "Sinister 2" (with $4.3 M), "The Man From U.N.C.L.E." ($4.4 M), "Inside Out" ($4.5 M), "No Escape" ($7 M), "The Transporter Refueled" ($9 M), and "Mission: Impossible-Rogue Nation" ($9.3 M).
