Britain's 89-year-old Queen Elizabeth II has esteemed all those who have participated both at home and oversees in well-wishing her as she becomes the long-reigning monarch in Britain. As she termed it herself, she thanked all for the "touching messages of kindness."

The monarch herself attested to the fact that the happenings were beyond her expectations as she spoke around the Scottish borders. As she dressed in a turquoise carrying her loyal gloomy handbag, she spoke to the assembled crowds briefly, signifying her reach of a major milestone.

At 17:30 BST, she surpassed the reign of Queen Victoria, her great-great-grandmother. At the aforementioned time, it was calculated that she had held sway for 23,226 days and sixteen-and-a-half hours, according to BBC.

Britain's' prime minister, David Cameron had on Wednesday noted the approaching occasion by saying that the "historic moment" would be celebrated by millions of Britons. In the final day, he added that the service of the Queen had been "truly humbling." 

"Over the last 63 years, her Majesty has been a rock stability in a world of constant change and her selfless sense of service and duty has earned admiration not only in Britain, but right across the globe," Cameron said.

According to Global News, the Buckingham palace released the official photograph of Queen Elizabeth II to mark the said event. The original photographer had been Mary McCartney, the daughter of Paul McCartney.

Since the Queen entered the throne in 1952, after the death of King George VI, who was her father, she has continued to carry out her royal duties ever since. Queen Elizabeth II marks a worldwide historical moment of monarchy and remains celebrated worldwide.
