Tsunekazu Ishihara, the Pokémon Company president, recently in a press conference revealed that "Pokémon GO" was inspired by the multiplayer and location-based perspective of "Ingress," Venture Beat reported. The president as well teased that the late Satoru Iwata was at the center of generating the idea of the mobile game.

Ishihara said, "Our challenge was to develop a great game for smartphone devices that expressed the core values of Pokémon. Pokémon GO is the answer to that challenge."

The concept of the game can be viewed in the YouTube promo. The main purpose of the game is to discover, train, trade, and battle Pokémon in real world locations like streets and parks. As a result, this location-oriented game will have players exploring a virtual map and walking around their cities in quest of a favorite Pokémon.

Apart from the mobile gadgets, players can also buy the Pokémon Go Plus, a separate Bluetooth device. While the device is optional, it reduces the time players spend on starting on their smartphones.

The game comes along with a wristband similar to a smartwatch to alert players whenever there are events within their vicinity. The Pokémon Go Plus offers LED flashes and vibrations to alert players. As a result, players can catch the Pokémon by pressing a button.

"Pokémon GO" will run on both Android and iOS gadgets.

Although the game is free to play, the company has incorporated in-app purchases as well. On the other hand, the two partners of the game are yet to unveil the price for the Pokémon GO Plus.

The game will probably be launched in 2016.
