"Daredevil" producer Drew Goddard has shared the reason why he is not the one set to helm Marvel's upcoming "Spider-Man" film.
In his interview with Cinema Blend at the Toronto film festival, Goddard said that he did not have new ideas on the character, since he also worked for "Sinister Six" for a year. The writer-producer also said that people in Marvel Studios have been very nice to him and that he and the studio were going to work on a right project. For Goddard, everything is all about "timing."
Goddard also mentioned his love for the character, calling him "transcendent" and he also mentioned that he liked seeing the creative take of different filmmakers on the character. While Goddard will not be directing Marvel's "Spider-Man," leaving the charge to Jon Watts, he could still work on more "Spider-Man" films in the future if Marvel has not tapped him yet for other projects, as per Screen Rant.
Godder is known for J.J. Abrams, Jeffrey Lieber, and Damon Lindelof's adventure television series "Lost" and the action crime television series "Daredevil." He also produced Marc Foster's action horror film "World War Z," wrote the screenplay for Matt Reeves' "Cloverfield," and direct the horror mystery thriller film "The Cabin in the Woods."
Meanwhile, Tom Holland is set to play the iconic web-slinger, debuting the character in Marvel's Cinematic Universe in Joe Russo and Anthony Russo's upcoming Marvel Comics film "Captain America: Civil War. Holland will play a high school Spider-Man, who is learning how to use his superhero abilities.
The Russos' "Captain America: Civil War" is slated to premiere in theaters in the United States on May 6, 2016 while Watts' "Spider-Man" is set to hit theaters on July 28, 2017.
