The burning questions of where Emma Swan (Jennifer Morrison) went and how will Emma's family and friends save her from being the new Dark One will be answered in "Once Upon a Time" Season 5. A synopsis of the new season's premiere episode teased that an unlikely ally will be helping the heroes of Storybrooke with their "Save Emma Swan" mission.
According to Entertainment Weekly, new photos and the synopsis of "Once Upon a Time" Season 5 premiere episode has been released to excite the fans as the premiere date nears. The episode synopsis teased that Snow White/Mary Margaret (Ginnifer Goodwin), Prince Charming/David (Josh Dallas), Henry (Jared S. Gilmore), Regina/Evil Queen (Lana Parrilla) and Captain Hook (Colin O'Donoghue) must be united first before they search for Emma.
The Storybrooke heroes' mission of finding where Emma went after becoming the new Dark One will require the help of an unlikely ally.
Emma will also be searching for help in the premiere episode because she will struggle in resisting her dark urges.
According to the synopsis, Emma searches for Merlin (Elliot Knight) in the Enchanted Forest with the hopes that he can stop her full transformation as the new Dark One. While on a journey to Camelot, Emma receives help from the "Brave" princess Merida (Amy Manson) and King Arthur (Liam Garrigan) as well as his Knights of the Round Table.
OUAT series creator and executive producer Adam Horowitz shared in an Entertainment Weekly interview that turning Emma into the new Dark One became a great opportunity for the show to explore on the character at her deepest levels. "That's what the Darkness does to you. It takes who you are and twists it, and that's what we're going to see with Emma," Horowitz teased.
As for the people who care about Emma, there will be conflicts but they will still put aside their differences and work together in their main objective of making Emma the Savior of Storybrooke again. Co-creator and executive producer Edward Kitsis teased that the OUAT characters who will really disagree when it comes to saving Emma are her parents, Snow White/Mary Margaret and Prince Charming/David.
Kitsis explained that Emma's situation will cause a lot of stress between Emma's parents because they do not know how to save her. "Once Upon a Time" Season 5 premieres on Sunday night, Sept. 27, at 8/7c on ABC.
