T-Mobile is pushing the boundaries of mobile communication after revealing that the company is expanding its international coverage by adding 20 countries as part of its Simple Global feature.
According to Engadget, T-Mobile Simple Global feature is currently available in 145 international locations. The feature offers subscribers unlimited text and data and a $0.20 per minute call rate. The recent expansion will add the Bahamas and Haiti into T-Mobile's list of supported international locations as well as nine European countries.
T-Mobile boasts that it covers 90 percent of all trips Americans made abroad every year. The company also highlighted that it has full network coverage in all of South America and Europe.
T-Mobile chief executive officer John Legere said in a statement, "The carriers have made billions overcharging consumers who just want to stay connected overseas, and we've changed all that! Today, we made it even simpler to text, search or keep up on social media in total of 145 countries and destinations, all at no extra cost."
In similar news, the Uncarrier network recently revealed that it has added 2.1 million new customers in the first quarter of 2015. These includes one million postpaid subscribers. The company is also raising its forecast numbers regarding the number of customers it is expecting to join into its fold.
CEO Legere made the announcement during the Goldman Sachs Communacopia technology conference. According to Re/Code, Legere also highlighted that T-Mobile is planning to take a very aggressive bid in the 2016 spectrum auction by the Federal Communications Commission. This is part of the company's expansion plan.
