If it were up to an Islamic minister, fans of Beyonce would not be seeing the singer in her body-baring gowns. That's because Minister Louis Farrakhan, leader of the Nation of Islam, has asked Jay-Z to help cover the body of his wife known for wearing see-through dresses that leaves nothing to the imagination during concerts and celebrity events.
He says the advice includes other female celebrities notorious for wearing too little such as Nicki Minaj and Rihanna. Farrakhan notes that the three are some of the most beautiful and physically endowed women of today, reports Hiphopdx.
"Today, you strip the women of her clothes. How can a man think straight looking at the beauty of Beyonce?" asked the minister. Women, he points out, are the builders of civilization. If there are no decent women, there are no decent men "for the woman is the mother of civilization," Farrakhan says.
To Jay-Z, Shawn Corey Carter in real life, whom he said is a good manager, he requests the rapper "I want to see my sister beautifully covered." Farrakhan chides Jay-Z because "your woman is on display." He asks Jay-Z "Do you want men looking at your woman? Being tempted by your woman? To make advances at your woman?"
The minister stresses that by stripping these celebrity women through the kind of revealing clothing they wear, "Their bodies become the tool that is being used to promote the degradation of the woman. And the subjugation of a man."
Farrakhan also had a message for rappers like Jay-Z when he visited the Breakfast Club on New York's Power 105 on June 5. He recalls telling Snoop Dogg how rappers have become the new global leaders, pointing out that they may not realize it that they are leaders since they have millions of followers all over the world.
He says the biggest preachers do not have as many followers as one rapper. The challenge for rappers is to come up with lyrics with a beat that would open the minds of people. However, one way to do that is for ministers also to collaborate with rappers like wat he is doing with Kanye West.
