The impending debut of the upcoming 2016 Volvo S90 has made fans curious if a leaked image from Volvo could be the new look of the car.

A leaked photo from Mogo Model (via Autoblog) featured an entirely new 1:42-scale model of a car that is suspected to be the Volvl S90. The luxury sedan is expected to compete with top names like the Mercedes-Benz E-Class and the BMW 5 Series.

There is still no confirmation if this really is the new Volvo, but according to AutoMobile Mag, the overall look "is inspired by the series of three concept cars that established a new design language for the Swedish luxury brand."

At the same time, the look and feel of the scale car is closely similar to the scale of the 2016 Volvo XC90 SUV.

The scale model features a "Thor's Hammer" type of headlight with similar grille shape as the XC90. It has curved greenhouse transitions that ends in the rear window. This design can be traced back to the Audi A7 shape.

In terms of the horsepower, the S90 will reportedly replace the old S80 engine and will utilize the XC90's larger Scalable Product Architecture. This will give the automobile the same powertrains and four-cylinder hybrid T8 setup.

The flagship sedan is also set to use the Drive-E 2.0 liter engine.

The U.S. version will have the 316-hp turbocharged and supercharged units, while the European versions will have a diesel option.

After Volvo launches the S90 next year, the V90 Volvo wagon is expected to follow suit.
