The computer software company AVG released an update regarding it own privacy policy, making its users skeptical to use the service and other related free apps.

The said privacy update fully intends to use the "non-personal" data from its users and then sell it to third-party products and service providers. The information they are about to sell include searching and browsing history, Internet service provider and mobile carrier, advertising ID, and other information from the apps the users use on their device.

The company also stated that they might anonymize the data collected to protect the privacy its loyal consumers enjoy. AVG automatically keep anonymous those identifiable personal information, including location, IP address, user accounts, phone numbers, etc. and will continue to do so in the future..

The cyber security company assured the consumers their products and services help in securing the data, devices, and personal privacy of its users. The data they are going to collect will be used to enhance their present services and products and commit more in providing support, offers and promotions, according to iDigitalTimes.

A spokesperson from AVG said that the company even updated the language of the products to be more transparent and ensure that people know that the company is making money out of their information. It added that if users do not want the company to use their non-personal data, they would be able to turn it off easily without compromising the functions and security of the apps, Engadget reported.

AVG’s new privacy policy will take effect starting on Oct. 15.
