Pope Francis' visit may be a drawback for iPhone enthusiast in the New York and Philadelphia regions. Shipments for Apple's new iteration smartphones, the iPhone 6S and 6S Plus, may be delayed for customers in the two areas.
The tech giant corporation, Apple, just launched its latest iPhones and received many preorders that it anticipates to break sales records after the Sept. 25 release. There is already a three to four week backorder of many models, colors, and storage configurations, with all the iPhone 6S Plus models absent through preorder on release, Tech Times reported.
While customers who had an early order to get the new iPhone 6S or 6S Plus are eagerly waiting for the release day, a new snag may prevent some of them from getting their smartphones on time.
According to Mac Rumors, areas in the New York that may be affected by the delay include sections of Chelsea, Midtown, East Harlem, Tribeca, and the Upper West and East Side.
Philadelphia will have the following regions affected by the halt: Callowhill, Devil's Pocket, parts of Bella Vista, Fairmount, Center City, Grays Ferry, Mantua, Passyunk Square, Logan Square, Northern Liberties, Pennsport, Point Breeze, Poplar, Powelton Village, Rittenhouse Square, Society Hill, Southwark, Spring Garden, Spruce Hill, University City, Washington Square West, West Philadelphia, and West Powelton.
Customers should note that not all iPhones are shipped through UPS in those regions. The company relies on FedEx as well, and so far, FedEx has not confirmed any delivery delays. Therefore, those customers who preordered iPhones that are being shipped via FedEx may not be affected and should get their smartphones on the release date.
