Known for playing Raj Koothrappali in the CBS sitcom "The Big Bang Theory," Kunal Nayyar is investing in Shoto, a new photo app that allows users to share photos and create private or public albums.

The new photo app Shoto is said to be the easiest way to get the photos friends have on their phone from the times spent together.

Using time, location, and algorithm, Shoto tells users which friends took photos when they were together and lets them know how many photos were taken with family members or friends at a particular event or place.

Part of the new app's $1.5 million in funding has come from Nayyar while the other part has been invested by Real Ventures, Economic Times has learned.

Aside from entering a new business venture with Shoto and reprising his role as Raj Koothrappali in "The Big Bang Theory" season 9, Nayyar is also currently filming crime film "A Momentary Lapse of Reason."

Nayyar co-stars with Sendhil Ramamurthy, Neha Chauhan and Jayant Paranji in "A Momentary Lapse of Reason," which is directed by Aditya Bhattacharya. Lance Reddick and Alex Brendemuhl are rumored to be part of the cast.

Recently, Nayyar starred in Daryl Wein's drama thriller "Consumed" opposite "Chicago P.D." and "Chicago Fire" actor Taylor Kinney and "ER" and "Zero Hour" alum Anthony Edwards.

Playing the role of Sendhil, Nayyar also appeared in "The Mindy Project" season 4 episode 1 "While I Was Sleeping," which aired on Sept. 15.

Among all the characters he played, the actor and businessman's most famous character is Raj Koothrappali of "The Big Bang Theory," which also stars Kaley Cuoco, Johnny Galecki, Jim Parsons, Mayim Bialik, Melissa Rauch and Simon Helberg.
