Back in September, Singer Faye Wong shocked her fans with news of her divorce from husband Li Yapeng after eight years of marriage.
And now she has taken their seven-year-old daughter back to her fold after learning that Li hadn't been taking care of her.
Since the two got divorced in September, Li has been negligent about his public image. He was once caught bringing home young actress Feng Jingen shortly after the divorce. The Beijing Chinese Culture Fund registered under his name is also under investigation for alleged financial issues. Li didn't give any direct response to the case.
When the two got divorced, Faye voluntarily waived custody of her daughter to her ex-husband. However, the child had been displaying troublesome behaviour in school, and had to stop going to school altogether due to conflicts with classmates and the teacher.
On Dec. 4, Faye flew back to Beijing from Hong Kong to check on her daughter. According to a close friend of Faye, she went straight to Li's place and demanded to take their daughter with her. Li reportedly refused at first but then let the mother and child go. Li later took his daughter back to his place and went on a trip to Vietnam with her.
"He promised me that he's going to take good care of our daughter and he failed to keep his words. I'm going to take back the custody. I would fight for it if I have to," a visiby upset Faye was quoted as saying.
So far Li has not given his side on the controversy.
