While "Elder Scroll 6" will not be released anytime soon, an important question so far has been whether the Skyrim sequel will continue with the Thalmor storyline. There were big changes for the series perceived in "Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim."

According to Elder Scrolls, the precursors to "Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim" was set during the period of the late empire, under the reign of Emperor Uriel Septim VII. The emperor died at the beginning of "Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion." The fifth sequel had a time-jump, two hundred years, in which case the world was every different.

The previous Empire, based on the divine authority of kings passed and was replaced by a weak Roman-style military dictatorship - one that had lost a war and fallen under the control of High Elf. Fans expect to see more of such a narrative in "Elder Scroll VI."

Historically, Skyrim is part of the Empire, whose High King that died recently, embraces the over lordship of the Medes (the new imperial dynasty). This is contrary to the desires of the Stormcloak rebels, who want an independent Skyrim. As a result, a war emerges between the rebels and the Empire in Skyrim, which the player has to determine the outcome.

However, all this time the Empire is not really functioning independently. Apparently, the Third Aldmeri Dominion - a theocratic and racist nation in the High Elf lands of Summerset Isles - broke loose from the Empire at the verge of a defeat 25 years before Skyrim. The state imposed the White-Gold Concordat on the Empire.

The treaty outlawed the worship of Talos and mainly turned the Empire into a submissive nation to the Dominion, with limitations to do what it wished.

Thalmor is the High Elf secret police or Inquisition. He features throughout the game but essentially Skyrim is not about Thalmor. Irrespective of Skyrim ending up independent or a subservient part of the Empire, the White Gold Concordat still remains strong as the Empire grows weaker and weaker something that "Elder Scroll VI" should focus on in its plot, according to iDigital Times.

The defeat of the Aldmeri Dominion is a narrative that has been just touched on so far, and fans expect to see a full exploration of the same. However, this does not imply that the game has to be set in Summerset Isles.
