Titled "Why October 7, 2015, is the likely end of the world," the podcast pointed to the Christian Bible as the source of his warning. McCann cited the Great Flood during the time of Noah who survived the 40 days of rain by building an ark based on instructions from God the Father, The Telegraph reported.

McCann pointed to 2Peter: 3 that stated God will destroy the Earth by fire. He reckoned the end of the world would be in May 2011 but revised when the date passed, he moved it to Oct. 7, 2015. But he provide a clause that there is only a strong likelihood that it would end today, and added "there's an unlikely possibility that it will not."

CNET reports that it was Harold Camping, a California preacher and radio host, who made the May 11, 2011 end-of-the-world forecast. eBible revised it with the explanation that the date was just the start of a 1,600-day countdown to the last day.

In September, NASA issued a statement in September that "NASA knows of no asteroid or comet currently on a collision course with Earth, so the probability of a major collision is quite small."

NASA, in fact, even announced that it has severed tied with Sentinel, a private foundation that searche for asteroids, because it has no funds for the $30 million to $40 million required to keep on track with Sentinel's program. However, NASA said it still supports Near Earth Object-asteroid hunting by teaming up instead with California-based firm B612 Foundation.

In an online survey The Telegraph asked readers what they would do if it is the last 24 hours of the Earth. About 36 percent said they would get drunk, 31 percent would watch a movie on Netflix and chill, 17 percent would spend all their savings and 16 percent would go to work.
