On the other, 37 percent of fans are still anticipating that the best is yet to come beyond the Dec. 18 release of the first "Star Wars" feature under Disney's watch, according to Variety.

Despite the lauded career of director J.J. Abrams, only 16 percent are attributing their excitement over the seventh "Star Wars" movie to him, as most fans are more excited over what VFX will be on display.

Thirty five percent of those surveyed gave the expected advanced CGI technology as the reason they have high hopes for the movie.

Other reasons viewers are in anticipation of "Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens" include a more engaging storyline (25 percent) and the hope that it will steer closer to the original "Star Wars" series (also 25 percent), while 14 percent are looking forward to a better cast.

The online survey was conducted on 2,031 people in the United States aged 18 upward, of whom 801 proclaimed themselves "Star Wars" fans.

It was commissioned by business information and analytics provider Fusions and conducted by Harris Interactive to analyze the projected impact of the upcoming Star Wars offering.

Looking at other surveys that include Disney's "Star Wars" debut, Investor's Business Daily reported that a National Retail Federation survey shows "Star Wars" characters ranking high among Halloween costumes to be donned this year.

Conducted by Prosper Insights & Analytics, the survey placed "Star Wars" characters as the fifth most popular costume choice for adults, with 1.4 million people who have said they will be Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia or one of the multitude of characters from the franchise this Halloween.
