Basketball Hall of Famer and NBA legend Charles Barkley made a surprise appearance on CBS on their NFL Preview show. Many were questioning but it was said to be a move to boost ratings shall Barkley throw one of his comments again on national media.

CBS may have boosted their numbers in social media as the former NBA player made a trending worthy comment about people in the South of U.S being child beaters. Host Jim Rome asked about Minnesota Viking Adrian Peterson's recent actions concerning his four-year old child and if what happened was okay with Barkley.

Barkley tried to defend the actions of the Minnesota Vikings running back saying "I don't believe that because, listen, we spank kids in the south. I think the question about whether Adrian Peterson went overboard -- Listen, Jim, we all grow up in different environments. Every black parent in my neighborhood in the South would be in trouble or in jail under those circumstances." he said.

Furthermore, he said "Sure. I think those pictures are disturbing. And I think Adrian said 'I went overboard.' But as far as being from the south, we all spanked our kids -- I got spanked, me an my two brothers" still trying to justify how that traumatic incident happens to the most of them.

It might be all about strict upbringing that led to Barkley to think that beating up children is just normal rather than deviant. Jim Rome was then quick to point out that 1964 was far different from 2014 and such parenting decisions should be rethought.

Managing to stay on the limelight as an NBA analyst after a 16-year NBA career, Barkley has been known to create controversy in the past and even justifies them as critics emerge. His most recent one was his comment on the women of San Antonio calling them 'Big Old Women".
