"Half-Life 3" has just been one of the many possibilities for the franchise but the new Dota update file has somehow given light to the existence of the game.
According to Arstechnica, "Half-Life 3's" proof was found on the latest update of "Dota 2." If the user will check on the hard drive for the "Dota 2" update, there will be a file labeled, "hl3.txt." It should be found on the "core/tools/help/fgd" folder of the update.
Now, some doubted this file because "hl3" could stand for many other things. However, according to Github, the file actually includes mentions like, "Combine Pulse Ceiling Turret." One other line states "Neutral to Combine and [don't] take damage."
To add validity, only the "Half-Life" franchise includes an organization named "The Combine" in the game.
Because of this, fans got even more excited for the release of the game. So far, Valve has not provided any confirmation statement about the existence and development of "Half-Life 3," but the fans have been insistent on the new proof.
Valve has not released any follow up game for "Half-Life 2" for eight years. "Half-Life 3" was supposed to be the continuation of the series. Because of "Half-Life 2's" huge success, fans have expected an extension to the game's cliffhanger ending.
In October 2013, a trademark application for "Half-Life 3" was spotted within the European Union. This was supposedly the big proof that the game existed, but the application was soon reported to be fraudulent.
Fans and community forums protested Valve's silence on the matter, but the game developer has been very tight-lipped about the matter. Until now, there is no confirmation about the validity of the game.
