Samsung Gear VR headset is set to be released in November. It is born out of a partnership between Samsung and Oculus and is an alternative to those costly VR headsets on the market.

The Samsung Gear VR headset works similarly with Google Cardboard. Without VR's latency issues, it will only weigh 310-grams and work flawlessly with the Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 edge, Galaxy Note5 and Galaxy S6 edge+.  The connection will be through a micro USB, iDigital Times reported.

Among the apps that will be included with Samsung's VR headset is Hulu.  Its app will be readily available once the Samsung headset is released on the market.  Users simply need to download and install the apps to their recommended Samsung smartphones.

Hulu will be joining Netflix and Twitch, who have collaborated with Samsung.  Their respective apps will be ready when Samsung's gear is launched. Hulu's head of distribution Tim Connolly told CNET, "We're ready to go."

"We think this is a smart bet that helps position us as an innovator and helps us learn earlier on what could be a substantive storytelling environment," Connolly added.

In relation to this, Hulu is also creating a short virtual reality film that will be accessible via its app with the Samsung Gear VR. Entitled "The Big One," it will be produced by YouTube star Freddie Wong who has also created a Hulu original series entitled, "RocketJump: The Show."

Meanwhile, the rival Oculus Rift, though at the higher end of the spectrum, will be made available for consumers by the first quarter of 2016.  It will come with a pair of headphones that are specifically designed to support 360-degree spatial audio and is pegged at $1,500.

Samsung Gear VR or Oculus Rift, virtual reality is definitely happening soon.
