"Super Smash Bros. 4" DLC rolled out last month, but instead of bringing in the new characters that the fans have been hoping for, it contains new costumes. This leaves out the speculation that another major DLC will be released where the new characters are included.

Several of "Super Smash Bros. 4" leaked images, which have been going around since September led some to believe that Shovel Knight, who is a character from a game with the same title, will be available as a playable character in the upcoming DLC. Furthermore, it appeared that the DLC will come with multiple new characters. The online community of "Super Smash Bros" has been having fun extracting the data from the released patch, and to everyone's delight, they seem to have found something substantial.

One user with a nickname Neoxon posted on NeoGaf, saying "The 1.1.1 Smash update has 3 empty character slots and 4 (2 Ω, 2 norm) stage slots, an increase of one each. Neat."

This "Super Smash Bros. 4" rumor added fire to the speculations that Shovel Knight might be in one of those spots. It is also speculated that Professor Layton might also have a spot, which was supported by voice actor Christopher R. Miller. It somehow confirms that there is a possibility of him joining the roster in the new update, MNR Daily reported.

Meanwhile, Nintendo recently ran a fighter poll for the well-known fighting game. The company wanted to see which characters the fans would like to see in the ring. The poll officially closed on Oct. 3 and the results are expected to be out anytime soon.

"Super Smash Bros. 4" fans will have to stay tuned for further updates.
