ZUK is currently working on designing its own version of Android Marshmallow, which is expected to be released on the Chinese New Year, which falls on Feb. 8 (2016).

However, even if all looks good for China, other countries might not get the Android Marshmallow in the form of Cyanogen OS 13 in their devices anytime soon, since the ZUK Z1 is a pretty new phone in the market. Also, Cyanogen started working on Cyanogen OS 13 recently, which implies it will take time before it is ready to hit the market.

In the meantime, many Nexus devices are already running on Android Marshmallow. The update is being sent in an over the air fashion, which means it will hit different devices and different models at different times. The update will make a big change in the material design of the software.

There will be addition of the DND option, which will enable the users to put their phones on a silent mode, while selectively making certain sounds active. This option will be available in the home screen drop down menu itself.

Android Marshmallow update will also bring many tiny cute animations in many features which were unanimated till now, according to BGR. The main example of this is the tiny settings gear icon, which is present in the home screen drop down section.
