According to latest reports, some Sony devices will not get the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update. Instead, the devices will jump from Android  5.0 Lollipop straight to Android Marshmallow.

Sony Xperia M5, Sony Xperia M4 Aqua, Sony Xperia C5 Ultra, Sony Xperia C4, Sony Xperia Z4 Tablet and Sony Xperia Z3+ are the devices that will be affected, Xperia Blog reported. All of the support pages for the aforementioned handsets show Android Marshmallow as the next version of the mobile OS that they will get, irrespective of the fact that at present they still run Android 5.0 Lollipop.

As for when these devices will make the move to Android Marshmallow, that will likely vary region by region and depending on the carriers which these handsets run on. Rumors are doing the rounds that the Telstra version of the Xperia Z4 Tablet will get the Android Marshmallow update in January next year, therefore, it is likely that other Xperia Z4 Tablet models will receive the Android Marshmallow update around the same time.

In Android 6.0 Marshmallow, users can uninstall an app on their home screen or in their app drawer just by long-pressing it, according to The Verge. Users will now see options for Uninstall or Remove on the home screen, or App Info and Uninstall in the app drawer. They just need to drag the app icon to the one they want.

Android 6.0 M also delivers a new feature known as Doze. When a user's tablet or mobile phone has been inactive for some time, Android M will hibernate it automatically.
