The rights to "Fantastic Four" may return to Marvel.
According to Den of Geek, 20th Century Fox has got access to "Hellfire Club" and "Legion," which were two different series in progress. The publication added that for the studio to gain the rights to these shows, it had to return "Fantastic Four" to Marvel Studios. However, there had been no word yet from Marvel Studios.
With this information at hand, it is assumed that Reed Richards, Johnny Storm, Sue Storm, and Ben Grimm could be seen in Marvel's Cinematic Universe, alongside the Avengers and the Guardians of the Galaxy. In fact, a "Fantastic Four" film under Marvel would be out in 2020, as per Den of Geek. This could be one of the three films Marvel announced to premiere on May 1, 2020, July 1, 2020, and Nov. 6, 2020.
According to Cinema Blend, Fox had a problem with "Fantastic Four." While the studio had done its best to hold the franchise, its "Fantastic Four" incarnations, including Josh Trank's "Fantastic Four," were not much appreciated by the audience. As per previous reports, turmoil in the studio, along with Trank's aggression had contributed to the film's failure.
Previous reports said that a sequel to Tranks' "Fantastic Four" was still going to push through whole other reports revealed that Marvel's first family was set to cross over with the X-Men. The latter might not be feasible at this point, since director Bryan Singer, who had directed "X-Men" films, including the forthcoming "X-Men: Apocalypse," is set to helm "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea."
With Spider-Man returning to Marvel Studios after his stay in Sony, it is possible for the Fantastic Four to join Marvel's Cinematic Universe.
"Fantastic Four 2" is slated to premiere in theaters in the United States on June 9, 2017. Meanwhile, Singer's "X-Men: Apocalypse" is set to premiere on May 27, 2016 while "20,000 Leagues Under the Seas" hits theaters in 2016.
