Here are three of the best headphones below the $300 price range.

Sony MDR-1A
The Sony MDR-1A is the successor to the Sony MDR-1R released in 2012. The new Sony MDR-1A is lightweight and very comfortable. The over-the-head headphone offers an improved sound quality compared to its predecessor, most notable is its better sound definition of bass, midrange and treble.

The Sony MDR-1A comes in with two cables, one of it has an in-line remote that fits for easy operation when connected to a smartphone, according to CNet. The headphone also comes in with a carrying pouch.

The only downside of the headphone is its price which should be around $250 - $300. Despite its quite expensive price tag, tech experts commend the headphones for its comfort and premium sound quality.

 Audio Technica ATH-MSR7
The Audio Technica ATH-MSR7 is a mid-range over-the-ear headphone that boasts impressive audio quality and superior build quality. It comes with three cables, one of it has an in-line remote well suited for smartphone use, as well as a carrying bag, according to Digital Trends.

Available in a handful of color variants, the headphone features highly detailed and rich sound quality. The headphone offers superior clarity which sometimes reveal its weakness especially when playing back recordings as it accentuates harshness and distortion. The headphones sturdy build quality also makes it a little bit heavy, as pointed out by some tech reviews.

The Audio Technica ATH-MSR7 is available online for $250 or less.

Philips Fidelio L2
Buyers looking for affordable over-the-head earphones that do not sacrifice sound quality, the Philips Fidelio L2 is the perfect choice. Picking a price tag of around $190, this headphone is a well-constructed earphone that is comfortable and offers excellent clarity and tight bass sound.

The Philips Fidelio L2 is designed for both home and mobile use. Its cable includes a one-button remote and microphone which works perfectly fine with for smartphone use.

The Philips Fidelio L2, while boasting interesting features, is not perfect. Its in-line remote does not provide volume control and its semi-closed design does not work well in reducing outside noise especially in crowded environments.
