Tech giants Samsung Electronics and Motorola recently unveiled and released two new smartwatches, the Gear S2 and the Moto 360 2nd generation, respectively.
These wearable devices come with upgraded specs over their predecessors, and have already been available for pre-orders. In terms of the specs, here's how Samsung's latest smartwatch compares to Motorola's Moto 360 2nd generation.
Samsung Gear S2
The Samsung Gear S2 is the company's first ever circular smartwatch that sports a 1.2-inch sAMOLED display screen with a 360 x 360 pixel resolution. This smartwatch is covered by a durable stainless steel body with water resistance capability (IP68), according to Samsung.
The Gear S2 is available in three different versions. One version, called the Gear S2 classic, comes in black and leather straps. The second version, simply called the Gear S2, comes with a slightly larger body, a 250 mAh battery inside, along with an Exynos 3250 processor.
The final version is similar to the Gear S2 version, but supports 3G connectivity, in addition to Bluetooth 4.1, Wi-Fi and NFC. This model also packs a larger 300 mAh battery along with a MSM8x26 processor.
All versions run on the Tizen operating system (OS) and have 512MB of RAM and up to 4GB of built-in memory storage. Other features of the Gear S2 include a rotating bezel that enables users to navigate through apps.
Motorola Moto 360 2nd Generation
As for Motorola's latest smartwatch, the Moto 360 2nd generation also sports a similar design to its predecessor, the original Moto 360, according to Tech Radar. The Moto 360 2nd generation is available in two versions.
The first version sports a 1.37-inch LCD display screen with a 360 x 325 pixel resolution, while the other version comes with a slightly larger 1.56-inch screen with a 360 x 330 pixel resolution.
Under the hood, both models pack quad-core 1.2GHz Snapdragon 400 processors, along with 512MB RAM and up to 4GB of internal memory as well. Both devices support Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity, and run on the Android Wear 1.3 OS.
In addition, the first version packs a smaller 300 mAh battery, while the other one comes with a whopping 400 mAh battery.
