Hough and Newton-John appeared alongside each other on the judge's panel for  the latest installment of "DWTS" season 21 episode 6 . The two got on well, E! News reported.

Newton-John commended Fox for choosing Hough to reprise the iconic role in the popular musical initially played by Newton-John.

"I think she's perfect. She's a beautiful girl and she's incredibly talented," Newton-John told the publication and added that she was confident Hough would pull off the role of Sandy saying, "She will be great."

The English-born Australian singer put to rest rumors that she would make an appearance on "Grease Live!" when she firmly told the publication the show has a new Sandy. She said, "It is fine. I'll stay in the screen from the old days."

Speaking about her upcoming role, Hough told Us Weekly in July she was nervous but in an "excited way." She said that while she understood that she had huge shoes to fill, she has been even more determined to "do justice to the musical" by her performance.

Entertainment channel Fox announced in January that Hough, who starred in "Footloose" and "Rock of Ages," would be playing the female lead in the live production.

It has also been revealed that Carly Rae Jepsen will be joining the production as the character of  Frenchie. Other cast members are set to  include Aaron Tveit as Danny, Keke Palmer as Marty, Vanessa Hudgens as Rizzo, David Del Rio as Putzie and Kether Donohue as Jan.

"Grease Live!" will air on Jan. 31, 2016 in the United States.
