J.J. Abrams' "Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens" may see a sinister Luke Skywalker.

In Jon Favreau's 2005 IFC show "Dinner For Five," Mark Hamill, who is the actor behind Skywalker, had pitched on "Star Wars" director George Lucas the concept of his character landing on the Dark Side in Richard Marquand's 1983 film "Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi," as per Cinema Blend. The publication added that it had become even more uncalculated, as one of the other guest was director Abrams.

According to Cinema Blend, Hamill had thought that time that Skywalker was going to the dark side following the events in Irvin Kershner's "Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back." For Hamill, an evil Skywalker would have been "more fun to play," along with his ideas on how his Dark Side person would have looked.

Skywalker is missing in the latest poster of Abram's "Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens." According to Cinema Blend, it is feasible that the filmmaker and the production were challenging the audience to think on how the character would appear in the film, more specifically on when, where, and how he would be seen in the storyline.

"Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens" is set 30 years after the events in the "Return of Jedi." It stars an ensemble of both old and new heroes and villains played by Oscar Isaac, Hamill, Max von Sydow, Simon Pegg, Daisy Ridley, Domhnall Gleeson, John Boyega, Gwendoline Christie, Adam Driver, Carrie Fisher, and Harrison Ford, among others.

Abrams' "Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens" hits theaters on Dec. 18 while Gareth Edwards's "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" premieres on Dec. 16, 2016. Meanwhile, Johnson's "Star Wars: Episode VIII" is slated to premiere in theaters on May 26, 2017 while Colin Trevorrow's "Star Wars: Episode IX" premieres in 2019.
