Episode 3 revealed that Joe had lied about what happened to her mother due to her being a drug addict and fearing that if Iris' went with her, she would turn out to be a bad person growing up. Eventually Joe told her the truth as Iris accepted her father's reasons and will try to see her mother for the first time.

Patton stated that that side story in season 2 will revolve around her family and hinted to be a good Christmas episode similar to season 1, Fashion&Style reported. With that being said, it is speculated that midseason finale for season 2 could introduce Wally West (Keiynan Lonsdale) to the show.

There have been many speculations and rumors that Wally West in the show could be Joe's son and Iris' little brother separating him from the main DC comics counterpart. While Patton confirmed that there is some kind familiar relationship between the two, Londsdale stated in an interview that he is not yet given details as to what kind of relationship he has with Iris, but promises fans that it will find out very soon.

Aside from Wally West rumored appearance, Danielle Panabaker revealed a new image for Caitlin Snow's alter-ego, Killer Frost during her guest appearance in "The Talk". Panabaker told the host that she liked how Killer Frost's look in the show and she was excited about the whole transformation process before crew actually shot her scenes with the costume and make-up, ScreenCrush reported.

Lastly, Robbie Amell teased a possibility that Ronnie Raymond could return to show as he posted a photo on his Intagram with the new Firestorm, Jax Jackson (Franz Drameh) and hinting a comeback soon. It has been speculated that Ronnie could end up in Earth 2 when he, Professor Martin Stein (Victor Garber) and Barry Allen/The Flash (Grant Gustin) stopped the singularity from destroying Central City.

Showrunners Greg Berlanti and Andrew Kreisberg hinted that they are planning something huge for Ronnie's return to the series and flashback appearances in "Legends of Tomorrow".
