The OnePlus X has a 5-inch display with 1920x1080 resolution and pixel density of 441 ppi. The smartphone sports an elegant and minimalist design with glass panel on its front and back with a metal trim.

The smartphone is available in one color only, Onyx, and features a glass design that curves at the edges of the phone. The more expensive Ceramic version has angled edges. The Ceramic is a limited edition model and OnePlus only plans to release 10,000 units.

The OnePlus X is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 quad-core processor clocked at 2.3GHz. The same chipset powers some flagship devices such as the LG G3, Motorola Moto X and the OnePlus One.

The phone has dual-SIM capabilities, which is useful for people who often travel abroad. It also has a non-removable 2525mAh battery pack. It has 3GB of RAM and 16GB of storage space which is expandable up to 128GB via the microSD card slot, according to Engadget. It has a Micro-USB port instead of the standard USB-Type C port integrated on the OnePlus 2.

For its camera, the OnePlus X has a 13-megapixel rear facing camera capable of recording 1080p videos. It also has a 7.6-megapixel front facing camera.

According to CNET, it runs on OxygenOS which is OnePlus' custom operating system based on the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop OS.
