Colin Trevorrow's blockbuster film "Jurassic World" has rampaged once more, in home video charts this time.
"Jurassic World," the third highest grossing movie of the year, had gone on to yield $82.6 million in its physical and digital home releases, according to an official press release from Universal Pictures Home Entertainment. The film had been accessible via digital platforms since the start of October and was followed by the home videos on Oct. 27.
According to Cinema Blend, digital platforms were more expensive than a Redbox rental. The publication said that a night at the kiosk would cost $2 at most for a Blu-Ray rental while an on-demand rental of the movie would cost about $5 to $6, in some cases.
For the time being, it is assumed that a lot of people would buy copies, since many of them were not able to see the film in theaters and some presumably want to watch the film and experience "Jurassic World" for the second time.
Meanwhile, "Jurassic World 2" is set to be the sequel to Trevorrow's "Jurassic World."
In her previous interview, Bryce Dallas Howard, who played Claire Dearing in the first film, teased that fans would see her character without the high heels. On the other hand, Nick Robinson, who played the role of Zach in the film, revealed that the events in the sequel were all very top secret, a "hush hush kind of stuff," and was cooking up something worthy.
As Trevorrow teased in previous reports, "Jurassic World" would not be about bigger and better dinosaurs just like what fans had seen in its predecessor. The "Jurassic World" director also pointed out that the sequel would serve as a foundation on a much broader story that chronicles the relationship between man and the dinosaurs.
"Jurassic World 2" is set to mirror the line cited by Dr. Alan Grant, who was played by Sam Neill in Steven Spielberg's "Jurassic Park" in 1993. "Dinosaurs and man, separated by 65 million years of evolution have been thrown back into the mix together. How can we know what to expect?," Grant said in Spielberg's film.
With "Jurassic World 2" in its early stage of development, exact details on the plot, characters, and cast are yet to be revealed.
"Jurassic World 2" is slated to premiere in theaters in the United States on June 22, 2018.
