Halle Berry and Olivier Martinez are seemingly heading for an ugly divorce. The two have filed separately divorce and will soon be faced with the issue of separating their multi-million dollar assets among them.
The estranged couple has raked millions over the years with Berry being the primary breadwinner of the family, a fact that also eventually became the point of contention in their marriage. The actress' estimated worth is reported to be $70 million.
In her divorce petition, the 49-year-old actress has cited their prenuptial arrangement to claim that neither will have to pay spousal support, but the child support cannot be waived off and the amount will depend on their income.
"Both parties are going to have to give financial declarations of disclosure that lists everything they know about in terms of income, value of assets, debt, their monthly expenses, etc," Robert Brandt, a family law specialist told People.
Both Berry and Martinez have already employed high-powered divorce attorneys. While the "X-Men" actress is reportedly led by Stephen Kolodny, who had represented the celebrities like Mel Gibson and Lisa Bonder Kerkorian, the French actor is seeking help from lawyer Laura Wasser, who had handled legal action for Britney Spears, Ryan Reynolds and Tom Cruise.
Wasser is also the author of "It Doesn't Have to Be That Way: How to Divorce Without Destroying Your Family or Bankrupting Yourself" and is known for calmly handling celebrity cases, keeping the details out of media's reach.
Meanwhile, amid the divorce proceedings, the actress continues to wear her wedding band. She was recently spotted flashing her wide gold ring on her left hand in Los Angeles on Oct. 30, Friday, Daily Mail reported.
