Contending squad Atletico Madrid (6-2-2, 20 points) will face middling team Sporting Gijon (3-4-3, 12 points) at the Vicente Calderón Stadium on Sunday, November 8th for a 2015-2016 La Liga season game.

Atleti settled for a 1-1 draw with Deportivo La Coruna during their most recent La Liga match on October 30th at the Estadio Municipal de Riazor, as reported by SkySports.

Los Colchoneros' Portuguese midfielder Tiago Mendes opened the scoring at the 34th minute with a shot from outside the box to the bottom right corner of Deportivo's Argentine goalkeeper Germán Lux.

However, hometown hero Lucas Pérez managed to equalize the count at the 77th via a right-footed shot from center box to salvage a point in the standings.

Diego Simeone's squad had been unbeaten in their last four games with two wins and two draws.

Meanwhile, Sporting Gijon defeated lowly Malaga, 1-0, at their home turf of Estadio El Molinón on November 1st for their first win in three outings, as per Sports Mole.

Croatian midfielder Alen Halilović, on loan from Barcelona, provided the lone goal of the match at the 27th-minute mark as both teams failed to add to the count from then on.

Abelardo Fernández's campaign this season had so far been inconsistent and they will look to gain an upset over the mighty capital city squad.

Antoine Griezmann will be keen to lead Atleti to a bounce back win, though, and will not allow his mistakes from the previous game to carry over in this matchup.

The prediction is a 3-1 romp for Atletico Madrid.
