On the contrary, the report notes that the show has only become better after the exit of the fan-favourite character of the series. It is said that even if Elena Gilbert is not the part of the main storyline, the show is doing a great job at keeping its fans hooked to it.
However, the website speculates, the frequent flash-forwards during Season 7 episodes might be a way of letting the fans know that the show is moving towards its conclusion. Fans have often been treated to the glimpses of future of their favourite characters showcasing scenes from small time jumps.
