The advanced screening and Chinese premiere of "Snoopy: The Peanuts Movie" on Wednesday night in Beijing featured VIP guests in the form of cute dogs walking the red carpet.
Ten pet puppies, along with their owners, walked the red carpet on the night of the premiere, attracting hundreds of spectators who stood by and watched the event, as children cheered for the dogs.
The dogs and their owners were recruited online by 20th Century Fox, the film's distributor.
The film is produced by 20th Century Fox Animation and Blue Sky Studios.
"Snoopy: The Peanuts Movie" is directed by Steve Martino and features the voices of Noah Scnapp, Bill Melendez (archival recordings), Francesca Capaldi, Madisyn Shipman, Trombone Shorty and Kristin Chenoweth.
Martino is best known for directing "Horton Hears a Who!" and "Ice Age: Continental Drift," which were both produced by 20th Century Fox Animation and Blue Sky Studios. He recalls being a huge fan of the original comic strip by Charles M. Schulz.
Schulz's family worked closely with Martino to give the "Peanuts" gang some of their iconic 2D characteristics of Schulz's original drawing style in the 3D film.
This year is the 65th anniversary of the launch of the original comic strip, which is regarded as one of the most popular and influential in history.
At its peak, "Peanuts" ran in more than 2,600 newspapers with more than 355 million readers in 75 countries. It was translated into 21 languages, and there were a total of 17,897 strips published.
This will be the first feature film based on the strip in over 35 years.
"Snoopy: The Peanuts Movie" debuts on Nov. 6 in China.
