Newsweek reports that for phones, the top two positions are held by Samsung devices. On number 1 spot is Samsung Galaxy S6 which has 576 ppi, while in second place is Samsung Galaxy Note Edge with a 539 ppi.

Apple is only in 6th and 7th places. Apple iPhone 6S Plus has a ppi of 401, while the iPhone 6S has a 326 ppi.

For tablets, Samsung also led the list, Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4 has a 359 ppi. Apple is only in 4th and 5th place, the iPad mini 4 has a 326 ppi and the iPad Air 2 has 264 ppi.

Apple's Retina is a high pixel-density display which packs the screen of smartphones and tablets that the user would not see individual cells with the naked eye. For these gadgets to achieve ultra-sharp detail the closer the display is held to the face, more ppi is needed.

Gadgets with high pixel-density display make text sharper and photos more realistic which protects the user from eyestrain.

For PC monitors, the Dell UltraSharp 27 Ultra HD 5K Monitor topped the list with 218 ppi, while for high-definition TVs, number 1 is the VIZIO XVT651d 65-inch 4K HDV with 68 ppi.

Apple users, however, reported problems with their Retina display because of stains that appeared on its screen's ant-reflecting coating. The problem was called "Staingate," reports in Techtimes.
