The one-year hiatus of boy band One Direction is coming very soon. The release on Friday of a new song, "History," is their farewell to fans.

Liam Payne, member of 1D, explains to Entertainment Weekly, "More than anything, the song is about the way the fans and everyone have created this massive thing - One Direction - over the past five years." He describes the song as the modern version of "You've Got a Friend in Me."

The band is slated to release on Nov. 13 their fifth album, "Made in the A.M.," which One Direction said would be their last before 1D goes on a 12-month break, although members would pursue individual careers during this period.

Payne suggested bringing members of the band and Julian Bunetta, who often collaborates with 1D, to record "History." He adds that the new tune is about their fans and what they have done. "I think it was important that they were a part of it, to close the album," he says.

As if to assure fans they are just on a hiatus and not permanently disbanding, the song's lyrics includes the line: "So don't let it go / We can make some more / We can live forever."

Bunetta, who started writing the songs for the album in March in London, assures 1D fans that "these songs are not one dimensional, lyrically and sonically," quotes Rolling Stone.

Besides "History," other songs in the fifth album include "The End of the Day." "I Love You Goodbye" and "Hey Angel." Bunetta says, "All these songs will make for great five-paragraph essays."
