Japanese auto company Toyota is launching its eighth hybrid car in the form of a refreshed model of the Toyota 2016 RAV4 crossover. The company claims that the new hybrid gasoline-electric model of the RAV4 is the most powerful and fuel efficient model to date.

According to GizMag, the new Toyota 2016 RAV4 will sport new exterior design such as updated bumpers, new wheel options and skid plate garnishes. Three new colors will be introduced as well; Black Currant Metallic, Electric Storm Blue and Silver Sky Metallic.

Toyota is also throwing in some new and updated tech features on the 2016 RAV4. It now includes the new Toyota Safety Sense which is an advance safety feature that includes pre-collision braking. Additional tech and safety features include lane departure alert, forward collision warning, pedestrian pre-collision system and adaptive cruise control. All this features will be available in certain trims of the new RAV4 starting with the Limited model.

The new Toyota 2016 RAV4 is a gasoline-electric model and has a standard all-wheel drive. It also has the Toyota Hybrid Synergy Drive which is also integrated the new Prius and other cars in Toyota's hybrid lineup.

The Toyota 2016 RAV4 Hybrid has a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine and electric motor in the transaxle. The secondary electric motor situated on the rear axle allows the car to have all-wheel drive without needing secondary drive shaft.

The engine is capable of outputting 194-horsepower and 206 pound-feet of torque. The 2016 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid can go from zero to 60mph in 8.1 seconds, which is faster compared to its gasoline-only counterpart.

According to Auto Blog, the 2016 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid comes in two trims; XLE and LTD. the LTD version costs $29,270 while the XLE version costs $34,510.
