Singer-actress Mariah Carey is set to be part of Chris McKay's upcoming animated action comedy film "The Lego Batman Movie" as Gotham's mayor.

According to Deadline, Carey was in talks for the role of Commissioner Gordon in McKay's "The Lego Batman Movie." The publication said that it was nice to know if the commissioner would sing, if had been called on. However, sources told The Hollywood Reporter that the singer-actress would voice the mayor of the crime riddled city, Gotham.

"The Lego Batman Movie" serves as Warner Bros.' spinoff of Chris Miller and Phil Lord's 2014 film "The Lego Movie." Aside from Carey, the film stars Ralph Fiennes as Alfred the Butler, Zach Galifianakis as The Joker, Rosario Dawson as Batgirl, Michael Cera as Robin, and Will Arnett as Batman.

With McKay set to helm the film, "The Flash" screenwriter Seth Grahame-Smith is on board to co-pen the film screenplay. The film will be co-produced by Will Allegra, Ryan Halprin, Roy Lee, Dan Lin, John Powers Middleton, Lord, and Miller, among others.

At this point, exact details on the film's plot, additional characters, and cast, are yet to be revealed.

Aside from "The Lego Batman Movie," Carey is also set to be part of an untitled Christmas pitch from RatPac Entertainment and New Line Cinema. With Brett Ratner producing, the holiday film centers on the power of music to one's "truest and most authentic feelings." Jonathan Shestack, James Packer, and John Cheng will produce the film while David Diamond and David Weismann will write the screenplay.

McKay's "The Lego Batman Movie" is slated to premiere in theaters in the United States on Feb. 10, 2017 while the untitled Christmas pitch's release date is yet to be revealed.
